Family Releases Burial Details For Kemi, Wife Of Gov Eno’s Top Aide, Michael Effiong

The family of the late Oluwakemi Oyeteju James has announced the burial arrangements following her passing, drawing an outpouring of sympathy from associates across media, government and social circles.

Oluwakemi, wife of media veteran and top government aide, Michael Effiong James, died after battling for weeks following a domestic accident, a development that has left her family and loved ones in deep grief.

James, who serves as Senior Special Assistant (Lagos Liaison) to Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Umo Eno and is a former editor at Ovation International and Encomium magazines, had earlier announced her passing in an emotional message.

“It is with a deep sense of sadness and loss that I, on behalf of the James, Oyediran, Ojikutu, and Macaulay families, announce the passing of my very dear wife, Oluwakemi Oyeteju James,” he broke the solemn news.

According to details released by the family, a service of songs will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Stella Hall, Daystar Christian Centre Headquarters, Plot A3C Ikosi Road, Oregun, Lagos.

The burial service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, 2026, between 10:00am and 11:00am at the same venue, after which interment will be attended by family members only.

In his tribute, James described his late wife as his closest companion and pillar of strength, reflecting on her impact on both family and community.

“She was my bestie, doting mother of our lovely biological children Kufre and Aniete and several other non-biological children, wonderful friends, aunts, cousins and sisters,” he mourned.

He added that the family remains devastated by the loss but is comforted by faith.

“She passed after battling for weeks following a domestic accident. We are devastated, but we know that God knows best and she is in a better place,” he stated.

Paying tribute to her character, he noted that she lived a life defined by compassion and generosity.
