Societynowng.com has unearthed unique requirements from intending couples seeking to be legally married at the Ogun state marriage registry.

The conditions were specifically obtained from the Ado/ Odo Ota local council situated in Sango.

Some of the stipulations include ”10 plates of food or N5000”, ”2 crates of soft drinks (can) – not high malt”, ”1 cartoon of biscuit (not coaster or cabined”, 1 bottle of red wine or eva wine (original)”, ”N3000 for inconvenience allowance ” and ”2 pieces of 5 Alive”.

Further revelations have it that these are outside the N7,000 fee for marriage certificate and related conditions.

According to one of societynowng.com’s sources ”this is obviously the norms because when I was there. I saw workers at place examining some of the stuffs already brought by those seeking to be legally married”

More revelations by societynowng.com have it that there are two requirements to be met by intending couples at the marriage registry.

”There are the official and the unofficial conditions” a source disclosed.

”And both must be fulfilled before couples are married” another source stated emphatically.

Societynowng.com learnt the official conditions are the government recognised requirements while the unofficial stipulations are believed to be drawn up personal benefits of workers at the registry with tacit support from the government.

”Because there is no way the government directly represented by the local council authority would claim ignorance of what is going on…it has been on for quite a while and people ferry in these demands week in, week out and they are loaded in the offices there for all to see” a regular visitor stated.

According to information available, those who made enquiries at the marriage registry are given a typed sheet of paper where the conditions are outlined.

The stipulations on the paper without the letter head of the council are segmented into three parts

1, Marriage Registry Requirements

2, Requirements for Tuesdays & Thursdays

3, Requirements for Saturdays

”Obviously the one with Marriage Registry requirements is the official while the others are thought up unofficial benefits for the workers based on conditions stated” a source pointed out.

The conditions outlined under each segment are reproduced as made available to societynowng.com

N7,000 for marriage certificate
