Again, Billionaires Walter Wagbatsoma, Adaoha Ugo-Ngadi Fails To Stop N1.9bn Oil Subsidy Case

Again billionaires indicted for N1.9billion oil subsidy fraud, Walter Wagbatsoma, Adaoha Ugo – Ngadi and their co travellers have failed in their bid to stop the case against them.

The duo and their accomplices had attempted yet another move at achieving this objective by filing an appeal against earlier verdict they have a case to answer – and on the premise of that action sought a stay of proceedings at the trial court pending the Appeal court’s decision.

The trial court with worthy legal, Justice Lateefa Okunnu at the helms of affairs refused.

This is on the heels of argument by Prosecuting Counsel, Rotim Jacobs , SAN (Senior Advocate of Nigeria) urging the court to throw out the application for stay as it negate the spirit of the provisions of sections 40 of the EFCC Act and 273 of the 1999 Constitution.’

Justice Okunnu had upheld the prosecuting counsels argument and adjourned to February 24, 25 and 27 for trial to continue.

All the indicted are being prosecuted by anti corruption agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for defrauding the Federal Government of Nigeria.
