Wasiu Eshinlokun Poised To Become Next Lagos Speaker As Rivalry With Muiz Banire Deepens!

Returnee lawmaker, Wasiu Eshinlokun –Sanni is posied to become the next Speaker of Lagos state House of Assembly.

And contrary to growing talks here and there, he has the political might of decision maker- Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu behind him.

Investigation by societynowng.com revealed that it was this influence that got him elected against all odds.

And this is despite threats of protest votes by loyal supporters of fellow party man that attempted to retain his seat, Akeem Masha.

According to findings by societynwng.com Eshinlokun had signed Masha’s nomination form as party secretary and the later was already campaigning for re election before things changed.

Political realignment within the party zoned the speakership position to Lagos central, Eshinlokun’s region, and unfortunately for him, Masha one of the likely candidates has too close a rapport with out of favour party man, Muzi Banire. And Asiwjau Bola Tinubu in need of a strong loyalist asked Eshinlokun – Sanni to join the race.

Sources disclosed the result of the move was an internal war of influence, by virtue of having signed the nomination form of Masha as Party Secretary sources revealed the emergence of Eshinlokun was greeted with cries of foul play.

Alleged backed with the influence of Banire the party’s legal, Masha was said to have played on claims Eshinlokun flouted the electoral rules regarding time and manner of declaration to get himself recognised as party candidate by the state electoral body.

The electoral umpire had intimated party leadership attempting to substitute Masha’s name on the orders of Tinubu it would take only a court order to effect the change.

Eshinlokun, who served as a State Law maker in the first tenure of Asiwaju Tinubu as Governor of Lagos state and later went on to become Special Adviser on Political and Legislative Powers to Tinubu after a one term stint 1999- 2003, immediately headed to court and secured necessary mandate that paved his way to become law maker elect.

‘but the fallout is enmity between him and banire….he knows banire is the one behind Masha’s boldness to challenge him…and continuing political aggression against him’ a source divulged.

Further revelations have it that seeing the mysterious manners he surmounts obstacles, increasing numbers of law makers have started queuing behind Eshinlokun’s ambition to succeed outgoing speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji.

While on his part, Eshinlokun and his supporter label them the creation of out of favour party chieftain intensely seeking a return to reckoning, Muzi Banire.
