Former Ogun State senator and daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, has commended Senator Gbenga Daniel for his contributions to humanitarian healthcare through the Gateway Front Foundation (GFF).

Obasanjo-Bello, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ogun Central Senatorial District in the 2027 elections, gave the commendation after attending the GFF@25 luncheon held in honour of the United States-based medical team behind the Sharing Hope Medical Mission and other partners.

Daniel, who represents Ogun East Senatorial District on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), founded the Gateway Front Foundation, which is marking its 25th anniversary.

Describing the gathering as a celebration of compassion and service, Obasanjo-Bello praised the foundation for recognising individuals and organisations contributing to healthcare delivery and community development.

In a statement reflecting on the event, she said: “It was a pleasure to attend the GFF@25 luncheon in honour of the US-based medical team behind the Sharing Hope Medical Mission and other partners.”

She added that the gathering celebrated “the spirit of compassion, service, and a shared commitment to improving lives through humanitarian healthcare initiatives.”

Obasanjo-Bello also commended the foundation for recognising the contributions of medical professionals and partners working to improve the lives of Nigerians.

“I commend the Gateway Front Foundation for its dedication to community development and for recognising the invaluable contributions of the medical team and other partners working to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our people,” she said.

She noted that sustained partnerships and collaboration remained important to building healthier communities, adding that initiatives such as the medical mission demonstrated the value of selfless service.

Congratulating the foundation on its silver jubilee, Obasanjo-Bello expressed appreciation to Daniel, whom she described as her brother, alongside his wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel, and other supporters of humanitarian initiatives.

“My appreciation goes to my own brother, Senator Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel; Yeye Olufunke Daniel; and everyone who continues to champion initiatives that bring hope and positive change to society,” she said.

The public show of appreciation brings together two Ogun politicians affiliated with opposing parties ahead of the 2027 elections, with Obasanjo-Bello seeking the Ogun Central seat for the PDP and Daniel representing Ogun East for the APC.
