The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent website falsely claiming that a fresh nationwide online voter registration exercise is ongoing.

In a public notice issued on Saturday, the Commission said its attention had been drawn to an online platform alleging that voter registration would run from September 28 to October 27, 2026.

INEC, however, described the website as fake, stressing that it had no affiliation whatsoever with the Commission.

“The Commission wishes to categorically inform the general public that the website is FAKE and has no affiliation whatsoever with INEC,” the notice stated.

The electoral body warned members of the public not to click on the link or submit personal information on the platform, noting that doing so could expose sensitive data to misuse.

INEC further clarified that the voter registration exercise ended on July 26, 2026, adding that any information suggesting that a new nationwide online voter registration exercise is currently ongoing is false.

It urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify electoral information through its official communication channels.

The Commission advised the public to disregard the fraudulent website and rely only on information issued through its official website, news portal and other approved platforms.
